Uni Kurutoga 0.3 mm mechanical pencil features a design from the film My Neighbor Totoro and Uni's innovative Kuru Toga lead rotation mechanism. The Kuru Toga eliminates this problem with the use of an ingenious lead rotation mechanism that continually rotates the pencil lead as you write. A spring-loaded clutch twists the lead incrementally every time you lift the pencil from the paper. This allows a uniform wearing of the lead to create a conical tip shape that provides a fine, consistent line. The Advance also features a sliding lead sleeve (guide pipe) that protects the lead as you write. As you write and the lead gets shorter, the sleeve slides into the pencil, getting shorter along with the lead. This means that you can write continuously without clicking to extend more lead, all the way until the sleeve gets too short. 

The Kurutoga has a Core Rotation Mechanism that continually rotates the pencil lead as you write. A spring-loaded clutch twists the lead incrementally every time you lift the pencil from the paper. This allows a uniform wearing of the lead so that it always remains pointed. This is great for students! It gives you an amazingly thin line. In effect, you use only 50% of the lead Area that you were previously using with your old mechanical pencil.
